Cobblestone streets at night at the greatest things in existance. If anyone knows any towns in Great Britain that are paved completely with cobblestone, please let me know. I'm dying to grow old in one of those towns.

New Leighton interview with Salon

Everyone's favorite mean girl

"Gossip Girl's" Leighton Meester on raging tabloid rumors, faux toplessness and her character's undeniable sex appeal.
By Thomas Rogers

I'll never forget the first time I met my very own Blair Waldorf. I was in eighth grade and I was walking down the hallway when a pretty girl stepped out from a row of lockers. "Nice pants," she said, staring at my jeans, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "I can tell you've had them hemmed." Her group of friends giggled behind her as I stared, terrified and confused. Yes, my pants had been hemmed. I didn't know why that was a bad thing. But I knew that this girl thought it was, and the way she spoke, with a pout and an icy look in her eyes, suggested that she was not someone people disagreed with.

Every week on the CW's teen melodrama "Gossip Girl," I'm confronted with the same pout and the same icy stare. It appears whenever Leighton Meester, as the Upper East Side's resident bad girl, Blair Waldorf, struts onto the screen. While the show, about the double-crossings and sexual exploits of a group of wealthy Manhattan teenagers, is chock-full of pretty people and scandalous content, the most engrossing part of it is Meester's performance as Blair -- not only because watching her eviscerate less-worthy opponents brings up deep-rooted and traumatic memories but also because Meester, with her porcelain-doll face and outrageous designer outfits, actually makes you want to root for her.

dvd question

hi, i hope this is allowed, i read the rules, but couldn't see anything relating so...

i want to buy the dvd series (UK version), (here's a link) but want to know if all the original music used in the aired tv versions is still the same. I only ask this because i bought another of my favourite tv series on dvd, and they'd had to change all the music, and this actually made a lot of difference, so it wasn't very good.
thank you xoxo

Choke, by Chuck Palahniuk

- For serious, the world is gone wrong when we dance to fire alarms. Fire alarms don't mean fires anymore.

If there were a real fire, they'd just have somebody with a nice voice announce, "Buick station wagon, license number BRK 773, your lights are on." In the event of a real nuclear attack, they'd just shout, "Phone call at the bar for Austin Letterman. Phone call for Austin Letterman."

The world won't end with a whimper or a bang, but with a discreet, tasteful announcement: "Bill Rivervale, phone call holding, line two." Then, nothing.

Ew's First Looks

OMG! Are Blair (Leighton Meester) and Chuck (Ed Westwick) back together? Yeah, right. In this Hamptons-set party scene from Gossip Girl's season 2 premiere (Sept. 1, The CW), Meester explains, ''we're talking about the love that cannot be.'' But she still roots for them. ''Nobody understands Blair quite like Chuck, and vice versa,'' she says. ''She still has feelings for him. Maybe he made a mistake — who knows?'' The two will, however, resume their usual bickering: ''There's going to be a lot of...insults and evil plans.'' That's the Queen Bee we love.
